This painting was created on January 14, 2024, the night of a cyclone in Réunion.
My muse was supposed to join me for an indeterminate number of hours of mandatory lockdown.
A few minutes before the red alert was issued, she told me she wasn’t coming.
This triggered a surge of anger in me that I projected onto the canvas.
She finally asked me to come and get her, which I did, defying the ban.
