From Orthodontics to Art,
a Journey of Resilience and Beauty
Keywords of my life: sensuality, spirituality, a blending of bodies and souls, a dance for three between myself, the canvas, and encounters.
I am François Vergez, an artist and orthodontist, father of two, and passionate about the unique intersection of health, art, and well-being. Born in Lille into a family where tension was palpable and silence regarding my personal challenges, such as my diabetes diagnosis at age 19, was the norm.
My career began in the field of orthodontics, a choice dictated not by a passion for studies, but by a deep desire to help people rise, heal, and restore their smiles. My journey took me from Lille to Bordeaux, then to adventures across 5 continents, before settling in Réunion Island.
It was in my sister’s apartment that I discovered my passion for painting, a passion that has accompanied me through moments of both sadness and joy, allowing me to rediscover my inner strength. Painting has become a form of healing for me, a way to express beauty, aesthetics, and resilience in the face of life’s trials.
My personal and professional journey has taught me the importance of resilience and an openness to travel and encounters that nourish my soul and my art. After a tumultuous period marked by a separation and personal challenges, 2022 was a year of rebirth for me. I produced a significant number of paintings, regaining confidence in myself and in my ability to inspire and heal through my art.
2023 was marked by meeting a new muse.
She shares the same passion for painting as I do.
A relationship that is quite tumultuous, full of ups and downs, but so stimulating for inspiration…
I am discovering four-handed painting, and it is opening up new fields of creation for me.
I share my journey, my inspirations, and my reflections here, in the hope of inspiring those who, like me, believe that life’s challenges, such as diabetes, should not be an obstacle to achieving our dreams and fully appreciating what life has to offer.
